Scalloped Acacia Wood Bowl

The rim rises and falls in soft organic waves. This scalloped bowl is carved by hand from acacia wood, a full twelve inches across, each curve of the edge cut into the timber itself.

Fill it with oranges and pears through the week, pass warm rolls from it when the table is full, or set it out with a salad that suddenly looks arranged. The grain runs differently through every piece, so no two carry quite the same tone.

It stays out between uses anyway, the carved edge interesting enough to dress a sideboard. Acacia only grows richer as the years go by, until this is the one guests run a finger along without thinking, long after anyone remembers it arriving.
