The Coffee Corner

Story:

The first quiet minutes of the morning belong to the coffee. The scoops sit beside the beans, hammered by hand and finished in warm brass, each holding a level 30 grams so the ratio comes out right before you are properly awake.

The handblown sugar and creamer stand together on their small brass tray, cream poured from glass instead of the carton, sugar close by with the second scoop. On a slow weekend they come to the table with the pot, and the tray catches every drip however many refills the morning runs to.

Between cups they stay right where they are, low light moving through the glass beside the machine. Small pieces used every day become part of the ritual, and these will still be beside the coffee a decade on.
