The Prep to Table Set

Story:

So much of the preparation happens on a board, and the good boards rarely get put away. These three are cut by hand from olive wood, golden grain swirling end to end, firm under the knife and smooth to the touch.

The two classic boards take the prep, herbs and onions on the medium, bread and cheese on the large, cut and carried straight out. The essential board, shaped along its own organic line with a handle carved right into the wood, holds lemons and sliced fruit and passes easily around the table in one hand.

Between meals the essential leans against the backsplash and the classics stack neatly on the counter, each one's grain unlike the others. Olive wood is naturally antibacterial and only grows richer with use, so these are the boards that end up belonging to the next kitchen too.
